On 27 February we welcomed all our new and returning players to round 1 of GBJT fixtures. Although the day had some rain many of the matches were able to be played with some completed and some washed out.  All the best for a great season.

Season 1 2010 nominations have closed.  Team draws and instructions will be emailed to players (around 22/02/2010) before the commencemet of fixtures on 27 February 2010.  Looking forward to a great season.

Finals Day Presentation

At the GBJT Finals Day presentation we were very fortunate to have present Mr Ken Rosewall and Mr Ken Laffey (President of Tennis Queensland) to present trophies and awards to our players.  Both Ken Rosewall and Ken Laffey spoke to the players and parents and congratulated everyone on the days tennis.  Ken Rosewall enjoyed the day watching his grandson William play on the day and it was a great occassion with many of the children (and parents) having their photos taken.  We thank both Ken Rosewall and Ken Laffey for attending on the day which I am sure will be remembered by many of the players (and Parents) for years to come.  Photos of the presentation are available on our web site.

GBJT Finals Day - 14/11/2009

A warm spring day greeted our players and parents on finals day Saturday 14 November at The Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson.  Some great matches were played with many close results determining the winners on the day.  It was great to see how much all the players have improved throughout the season and this was very much on show on finals day.  The sportsmanship and team spirit displayed through the year and on finals day and a credit to all our players.  We also thank our Parents who help support and create the great club spirit we enjoy at GBJT.  In particular we thank our Level Co-Ordinators, Replacement Contacts, Parents-on-Roster, BBQ helpers and in particular Phillip Hoy our treasurer.

We must also thank our great sponsors who support GBJT and create the opportunities for our players to receive such great prizes.  Our major sponsor is Head Sporting Products represented by Mr Don Nicol.   We also thank Mr Troy McGrath and all the staff at UQ Sports who look after us so well and Woolworths for the grant towards the GBJT tennis shirts.

GBJT Finals Day - 14 November 2009

GBJT Finals day is to be held on 14 November.  All levels and matches will be played at The Queensland Tennis Centre, Tennyson.  Play will commence at 1pm and presentation of awards for sportsmanship, most improved and trophies for each level as well as the GBJT raffle will start around 4.30pm.  A free BBQ and drinks for all players and their families will be available around 4pm.  This is a spacial event for all our players and parents and we encourage everyone to join in the fun.

2009 GBJT Doubles Tournament

The annual GBJT doubles tournament was held on Sunday 19 October.  All players had a great day and the level of play was very high.  The winners and runners up in many of the levels were determined by count back.  We thank everyone who played and the parents who helped out on the day.  The following winners and runners up were presented with trophies on the day.

GBJT Players Experience Clay And Grass Court Play

Recently a number of GBJT players enjoyed the experience of fixture play on the (real) grass and clay courts at the Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson.  It was a great chance for players to experience what it would be like at Wimbledon and the French Open and appreciate the change in surface from the normal bounce of the hardcourt.  It took some time for the players to adjust (particulalry on the grass) and was enjoyed by both players and spectators alike.  Some photos are available on our website.
