Season 1, 2012 Tennis Fixtures

Season 1, 2012 nominations will be available on-line from 9 January 2012 for New and Returning Players.  Fixtures commence on 25 February 2012 and will be played (depending on level) at the Queensland Tennis Centre, Tennyson (2.30pm to 5.30pm) and the University of Queensland, St Lucia (2.00pm to 5.00pm).  No fixture play is held during school holidays!  Further details can be obtained from the Secretary, Mrs Peta Davis on 07 3374 0516.

Season 2 Finals Day And Presentation

Congratulations to all on what was a very enjoyable finals day!   

It was great to see so many supporters join the players on the day and see many great sets played and how close the results were to determine the winner, runner-up and Best of the Rest for each level.  Full details of the results are attached below.

The BBQ commenced early and presentation of the trophies and awards for Sportsmanship and Most Improved was well received by all.  This was followed by the drawing of the raffle in which our first prize (Brisbane International 2012 corporate tickets to the men’s and women’s finals including dinner and lunch worth over $1,275) which was won by the father of Chloe and Abbey Hill.  We wish the Hill family an enjoyable time at the BI!

We want to highlight the good sportsmanship and spirit in which the season was played and the players deserve to be congratulated for this.  The improvement of all the players since the beginning of the season was clearly evident.  Thanks must also go to all our parents who helped through-out the season and in particular on finals day.  It is this spirit of participation and sportsmanship which makes the GBJT experience an enjoyable one for all involved.

A special thank you for your kind words and ‘surprise gift’ at the presentation which we very much appreciate and value!

GBJT Raffle

At the finals day presentation and BBQ (12 November), we will be drawing the GBJT Raffle and again we have a number of very good prizes on offer.

1^st Prize is Brisbane International 2012 ‘Brisbane Select Finals (both men’s singles final and women’s singles final) package’ for two worth $1,250 which includes premium reserved seating, three course meal and beverage in corporate dining room, access to corporate bar and complimentary programs.  Many other prizes on offer as detailed in the email sent out to all Players and Parents

Tickets are $5 each or three for $10.

Annual GBJT Doubles Tournament

A perfect day greeted our players and parents on Sunday morning for the Annual GBJT Doubles Tournament.  With over 80 players competing on the day, we all enjoyed some great tennis and very close matches to determine our winners on the day!  Thanks to our parents who helped out on the day and to all our players who enjoyed this special event.  The winners and runners-up on the day are as follows:

Grading Day For New Players

The GBJT Grading Day for New Players is held on 24 July 2011 at the Queensland Tennis Centre, Tennyson.  Grading Day is from 3pm to 5pm.  On-line enrolment can be completed prior to grading day to facilitate a more timely grading process for players and parents.

Season 2, 2011 Enrolments Now Open

Season 2, 2011 entry is now open for new and returning players.  Please complete the on-line enrolment form.  Season 2 fixtures commence on 6 August 2011 with Finals Day on 12 November, 2011.  Fixtures are played at either UQ from 2pm to 5pm or Queensland Tennis Centre from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.  No fixture play during school holidays or long weekends.

First Week Of Fixtures
