Season 2 2009 GBJT Tennis Fixtures Nominations are Now Open. For new players GBJT grading day will be held at the Queensland Tennis Centre (QTC) at Tennyson on Sunday 26 July between 3pm to 5pm. Returning players are not required to attend grading day. Fixtures commence on 8 August. Nominations forms are available now on-line. Both New and Returning Players please click on 'Enrol to Play' and complete the Nomination form now. Nominations close 26 July.
GBJT Finals Day

A perfect winters day greeted our players and parents on finals day Saturday 13 June at The Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson. Some great matches were played with many close results determining the winners on the day. It was great to see how much all the players have improved throughout the season and this was very much on show on finals day. The sportsmanship and team spirit displayed through the year and on finals day and a credit to all our players. We also thank our Parents who help support and create the great club spirit we enjoy at GBJT. In particular we thank our Level Co-Ordinators, Replacement Contacts, Parents-on-Roster and our GBJT Committee of Phillip Hoy, Chris Heath and Mary van Mourik.
We must also thank our great sponsors who support GBJT and create the opportunities for our players to receive such great prizes. Our major sponsor is Head Sporting Products represented by Mr Don Nicol. We also thank Mr Troy McGrath and all the staff at UQ Sports who look after us so well (particularly the great coffee) and Lisa from 30/40 Cafe.

GBJT Semi-finals And Finals

Important information about Semi-Finals and Finals Play:
Semi-Finals:
All teams play at the normal time on Semi-Finals day to be held this Saturday 30 May. The order of play will be 1st v 4th, 2nd v 3rd and 5th v 6th. The Level Co-ordinators will be in contact with each team captain to let them know where their team finished and the team captain will ring their team and let them know who is playing. Usually the best players play - players 1, 2 and 3, and the player who is on bye for the Semi MUST play on Finals' Day.
Finals Day:
All finals are played at TENNYSON on 13 June and play commences at 1pm (please arrive at 12.45pm). The family BBQ will commence around 4.00pm and the presentation of trophies, awards and raffle will be held at the conclusion of play (normally around 4.30pm).
GBJT Singles Tournament

Early Sunday 17 May around 60 player’s enjoyed some great competition in the annual GBJT Singles Tournament. The round robin format allowed all players to enjoy a number of matches and gain valuable experience in competition play. All levels were closely contested and in some levels winners and runners-up were determined on count backs. Trophies were presented at the conclusion of each levels play and we trust all our players enjoyed the day. The winners and runners-up on the day were as follows:

All Parents and Players - All finals this season will be played at Tennyson commencing at 1pm. Please ensure your team members are available for this early start and for UQ players that you attend the Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson. A BBQ for players and their families will commence at around 4pm with the presentation of trophies to commence at the conclusion of play around 4.30pm.

Social tennis is available for Parents / Carers of GBJT at the Queensland Tennis Centre Tennyson. Two courts are available at the same time as the childrens fixtures for 16 May, 23 May and 30 May. Bring your raquets and have some fun!!
2009 GBJT Singles Tournament

The 2009 GBJT Singles Tournament is to be held at the Queensland Tennis Centre, Tennyson on Sunday May 17, 2009. The singles tournament is in round robin format and play will commence at 8am (arrive at 7.45am) and will conclude around 12 noon. This is a great chance to consolidate your fixture play into tournament competition. Trophies are awarded to the winners and runners-up in each level including the GBJT pepetual trophies. Entries available below and from the GBJT center supervisor at UQ and Tennyson. Entries close on May 13, 2009.

GBJT - Finalist At Tennis Queensland Awards Night

GBJT was nominated as a Finalist for 'Affiliated Body of the Year' at the recent Tennis Queensland Annual Awards Night for the contribution as a club made to tennis in Queensland. The well deserved winner on the night was Tennis Townsville who held a Davis Cup match during the year.
GBJT Annual General Meeting

The GBJT AGM will be held at 12.30pm Saturday 28 March 2009 at the UQ Tennis Centre. All Parents are welcomed to attend the meeting and help contribute to the on-going success of the GBJT Association. We would particularly welcome any Parents who may have an interest in taking on a Office Bearer or Committee member role.
