Season 2, 2021 Grading Day for new players will be held at the Queensland Tennis Centre (QTC) from 3pm to 5pm.
Nominations are now open for Season 2, 2021 for GBJT Tennis Fixtures for new and returning players.
Congratulations to our Season 1, 2021 Sportsmanship and Most Improved Player awards which were presented to our players as set out in the table below - a credit to each of you for your efforts throughout the season.
Following the presentation of team trophies and awards, we conducted the raffle and our winners on the day were:

Saturday 12 June was a beautiful day to welcome our GBJT Players and Supporters to the GBJT Finals Day for Season 1, 2021 at the Queensland Tennis Centre (QTC) at Tennyson! The sportsmanship, enjoyment and some very close matches on the day were a credit to all our players and what each of you have achieved throughout the season. The results for the season are set out in the table below - well done to all.

On finals day, GBJT provides all players and family members a free BBQ and drinks during the course of the afternoon. The event is catered by the in-house Australian Catering Services (ACS) who help make this a special event for our people. Our presentation of trophies and awards will be made between 4 and 430pm (depending on how all the matches are completing on the day) and this will be followed by the drawing of the raffle prizes.
The GBJT Season 1 2021 Finals Day will be held at the Queensland Tennis Centre (no matches at UQ) on Saturday 12 June with the early starting time of 1pm. A list of all matches and times will be emailed out during the week before. We wish all our players all the best on finals day.

The annual members GBJT doubles tournament was held on Sunday 16 May at the Queensland Tennis Centre (QTC) at Tennyson. It was a great mornings play with many close matches on the day and we congratulate everyone for their efforts and great sportsmanship. Our winners and runner-up's on the day were as follows:

GBJT Finals Day was held on Saturday November 14 on a warm day at the QTC Tennyson and we are so pleased to have been able to complete a full season of GBJT tennis and thank our players and parents for helping us achieve this in challenging times. We all enjoyed a great finals day with many close matches to determine the results for the season and we congratulate all our players for how much they have all improved during the season, their sportsmanship and just the enjoyment of playing tennis.

The GBJT Finals will be played this Saturday, 14th November with all GBJT teams playing at the Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson. Play will start at the earlier time of 1:00 pm. The matches to be played are detailed in the emails sent through. GBJT have booked the courts from 12:30 pm so players can come early to warm up. Players starting at 1:00 pm are asked to arrive by 12:50 pm so that play can start on time.
The Presentation of Awards and Trophies will start about 4:30 pm. Players on bye from the teams in the Finals are invited to attend the presentation to collect their trophies.
Remaining COVID-Safe: For Finals’ Day, GBJT will operate under the QTC and our own COVID-Safe Outdoor Sport Plan. We remind all our players and parents – do not attend if feeling unwell or displaying COVID symptoms, please ensure social distancing is maintained and use hand sanitiser on a regular basis. All spectators must record their attendance in the GBJT Attendance book. Please remember to bring your own chairs.
GBJT will hold a free BBQ for players and their families, starting about 2:00 pm. This year, a COVID-safe BBQ will be provided by the QTC café.
The GBJT Finals’ Day Raffle will be drawn after the Presentation. The prizes include a framed shirt signed by Ash Barty and John Millman, a Head Tennis Racquet, Head products, and vouchers for St Lucy Cafe at the UQ Tennis Centre. Tickets can be bought on Saturday afternoon or via email this week.

Each season, GBJT holds a raffle which is drawn on Finals’ Day. GBJT will be selling tickets today and next Saturday for the Finals’ Day Raffle, with prizes including a framed shirt, signed by Ash Barty and John Millman, a Head tennis racquet, racquet bags, vouchers for St Lucy Cafe at UQ and a variety of Head products. The raffle will be drawn after the Presentation of Trophies at the QTC, on the 14th November.
We trust that all teams are organised for the Semi-finals matches today at QTC and UQ. A reminder that all teams will be playing on Semi-finals day at the usual time and the usual venue. A parent from each team is required for the supervision of the matches.
A reminder that most of the matches on Finals Day, 14th November will start at the earlier time of 1:00pm. A list of those matches and times will be sent out early next week.

The Annual GBJT Singles Tournament will be held on Sunday morning, 18th October at the UQ Tennis Centre, St Lucia and will run from 8:00 am - 12 noon. This tournament is only open to 2020 GBJT team members and the players will play sets of singles against other players in their level, in a round robin competition, with trophies for the Winners and Runners-up for each level.
This is a great opportunity for GBJT players to play some more tennis and develop their tennis skills in a friendly competition.
The following 8 events will be played:
Pennant Red (for players from Pennant Division 1 and 2),
Pennant Blue (for players from Pennant Division 2 and 3),
Level 1 Boys, Level 2/3 Boys, Level 4 Boys
Level 1 Girls, Level 2/3 Girls, Level 4 Girls.
The nomination form for the Singles Tournament will be available at tennis on Saturday. Entries for the tournament will close this Monday, 12th October. The cost is $20 per player.

The GBJT fixtures will resume this Saturday, 10th October at QTC and UQ. We trust that all teams are organised and that parents have checked the Parent Roster. If anyone needs the team draw sheet sent out again, please let us know.
With our return to GBJT fixtures today, a reminder we are operating under a COVIDSAFE Plan for outdoor sports and Regulations Still Apply: In the interest of our members and the broader community, it is of great importance that all players and parents/carers continue to follow the COVID-safe instructions (before, during and after) at our tennis fixtures. These include:
1. Only 1 Parent (carer) allowed to accompany each player (all attendees' details must be recorded for tracing purposes).
2. Only Players and the appointed Parent-on-Roster are allowed on the court (all others must sit outside – please bring a chair).
3. Social distancing and good hygiene (sanitiser will be available) must be applied at all times.

6. Players should tap racquets and not shake hands.

It was great to recommence GBJT tennis fixtures yesterday at QTC and UQ and see so many happy children back playing tennis again!
