In the interest of our members and the broader community, it is of great importance that all players and parents (carers) follow the instructions (before, during and after) our tennis fixtures as emailed out to each family  

This includes:
1.    Only 1 Parent (carer) allowed to accompany each player (all attendees' details must be recorded for tracing purposes).
2.    Only Players and the appointed Parent-on-Roster are allowed on the court (all others must sit outside – please bring a chair as the centre will not provide one).
3.    Social distancing and good hygiene (sanitiser will be available) must be applied at all times.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to week 1 of GBJT fixtures on Saturday 8 August. 

GBJT Season 2, 2020 tennis fixtures will recommence on Saturday 8 August at UQ (2pm to 5pm) and QTC (230pm to 530pm).  Team draws and instructions will be emailed out to Players and Parents on Monday 3 August!  We look forward to welcoming everyone to GBJT junior fixtures.

GBJT tennis fixtures will recommence (subject to Government approval) for Season 2 on Saturday 8 August 2020.  Grading day for new players will be held on Sunday 26 July, 2020 from 3pm to 5pm at the Queensland Tennis Centre.  We look forward to welcoming everyone back to GBJT tennis fixtures. 

Dear Players and Parents

In the interests of our players, parents and the broader community, GBJT will suspend our weekly junior fixture program for the next two Saturdays (21/03 and 28/03) which takes us up to school holidays!

This decision is not made lightly and is based on many factors including the advice received to date from Tennis Australia and Tennis Queensland, decisions made by other tennis and major sporting groups (GPS and CaSSSA school sports, cricket, netball, football, rugby, etc) in Queensland and across Australia, as well as the ongoing Governmental advice to the community.

Part of this advice is the Governments recommendations on social distancing and hygiene in helping slow the spread of this event which is important and we all have a role to play in helping support the interests of the good health and wellbeing of not only our tennis community but our community as a whole. 

As you will appreciate, this is a complex and daily changing situation and we believe our decision is in line with community expectations.  We will continue to update on a regular basis as matters develop and further guidance is provided to sporting groups such as ours.

The AGM for GBJT will be held at 3.30pm on Saturday 21 March at UQ Tennis Centre.  Anyone wishing to attend is welcome.

Following a directive issued by Tennis Australia late last night, GBJT as a Member Association will follow this advice and therefore GBJT Tennis Fixtures will be cancelled today.  We apologise for any inconvience this may cause but ensuring the wellbeing of our tennis and broader community is of great importance to GBJT and the tennis community as a whole.  We will update everyone in the coming week about our fixture program.

Statement from Tennis Australia and its Member Associations - All Tennis operated events, competitions and tournaments postponed until further notice.

Effective immediately Tennis Australia and its Member Associations are postponing all Tennis operated events, competitions and tournaments until further notice.

Tennis has made the decision to take further precautions in the interest of the health and wellbeing of our community.

Our goal is to avoid bringing crowds together in order to help contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and minimise the inevitable strain on our healthcare system.

This decision is based on expert medical advice and is in line with the recommendations of the global tennis community.

We realise this may cause inconvenience in the short-term however, our objective is ensuring our community remains healthy and strong.

We will continue to keep you updated and thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time for all of us.

We welcomed our new and returning players on Saturday to round 1 of GBJT fixtures at QTC and UQ. Well done to all and trust you are settling into the fixtures and enjoying your tennis.

The GBJT Season 1, 2020 fixture teams, draws and information will be emailed out to players and parents on Monday 17/02.  We look forward to welcoming our new and returning players this Saturday 22 February at either UQ 2pm or QTC 230pm. 

Entries for Season 1, 2019 are now closed. Team draws will be sent out the week beginning 17 February with fixtures starting Saturday 22 February. 

Nominations for Season 1, 2020 GBJT tennis fixtures open on 1 January for new and returning players.

We hope many of our GBJT members have the opportunity to attend the ATP Cup and Brisbane International Tournaments in early 2020.

At the end of our presentation of trophies and awards we held our annual raffle which included corporate tickets to the ATP Cup, tennis racquet and many wonderful prizes. Our winners on the day:

3rd Prize - Maki-Neste Family. 

We had a great finals day on Saturday with some very close matches and exciting tennis. Most importantly the sportsmanship and fun had by everyone was enjoyable to see. It is rewarding to see how much everyone has improved over the season and this was reflected in some of the close scores to determine our results on the day.  Our team and award winners for the season are set out in the table below. 

A special thank you to our sponsors, level Co-ordinaries, replacement contacts, BBQ helpers and everyone who contributed to a successful and enjoyable day for all. 
 

The Annual GBJT Doubles Tournament was held Sunday morning at the UQ Tennis Centre. With over 50 players competing, we were able to watch some excellent matches and very close results to determine our winners and runners-up on the day. The sportsmanship and enjoyment displayed by all was great to see and a credit to all our players.  Thank you to our parents and supporters who helped and enjoyed a wonderful morning of tennis. After the school holiday break, GBJT fixtures recommenced today and great to see everyone back and enjoying their tennis. Good luck to all. 

A reminder to our players and parents that no GBJT tennis fixtures for the next three weeks during school holidays. We wish everyone a great break and look forward to welcoming everyone back on Saturday 12 October. 

The Annual GBJT Doubles Tournament for members will be held on Sunday 20 October. The round robin tournament runs from 8am to 12 noon at the UQ Tennis Centre.  Entries available from the GBJT Centre Supervisor and also emailed out. 

We trust everyone has settled in and enjoying GBJT tennis fixtures. The club shirts have been handed out to all players so if you are still to collect yours, please see the GBJT Centre supervisor. 

We trust everyone enjoyed the first round of fixtures yesterday and have settled in. It was a windy day for everyone so playing conditions were most trying. Looking forward to our players who were on bye yesterday to week 2 of fixtures next Saturday.
