GBJT History

The Greater Brisbane Junior Tennis Association Inc. (GBJT) commenced junior fixtures in 1960. Originally based at Milton, GBJT have now established and run junior fixtures from both the new Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson and The University of Queensland.

GBJT offers children under 18 years of age the opportunity to play tennis fixtures and tournaments in the spirit which promotes the game and values of tennis.

Currently GBJT have over 350 registered junior players who compete in fixtures each Saturday afternoon which are conducted over two seasons each year. Season 1 normally runs from March to June and Season 2 normally runs from August to November. All fixtures for your level is played at one location with our beginner to intermediate players will be based at UQ and our intermediate to advanced players will be based at Tennyson.

In addition to our to our fixtures, GBJT offers players the opportunity to compete in the annual singles and doubles tournament. Normally in round robin format, these tournaments ensure that each player has a number of matches for the event.

The many years of succes GBJT have enjoyed is in part due to the emphasis placed on good sportsmanship by all players as well as the involvement of parents at committee and volunteer level to help ensure the smooth running of the competitions and that the players have an enjoyable days tennis.
